Answers to life's Questions

This is not so much a book as it is a divination tool. In fact, it is probably one of the easiest systems of divination to use- you simply concentrate on a "yes or no" question and thumb the pages until your intuition tells you to open it. There you will find your answer- and a little bit more.

Over the years I have used several divination systems (Tarot, I Ching, the Runes, and a couple more) but I was always curious about bibliomancy. It appears to be a form of "controlled synchronicity" as valid as any of the others- though limited to the degree of information that it can impart.

The book itself is a high quality artifact. You would swear that it is antique leather bound volume at first examination. It is a thick volume, but since it lacks page numbers, I cannot say exactly how thick. I know that people can't seem to keep their hands off of it, so it would probably make a great gift. An entertaining gesture might be to send it to a friend anonymously, to add a little mystery to their lives. 

Cat fights

I have no idea what the hell is going on with these cats but Beautiful is beating up Cairo and the other cats. It has been insane and we cannot control her. I have no clue what happened they have all gotten along for the longest time and now it is a horror movie in the making! Who knew they could be so violent to each other.

Russia and Paris may have a new home by Friday, yeah me. They are killing my allergies and I do not know why all these years that is happening.

Good news is Cairo is getting along with Hugoboss and Hugoboss is not bugging him to much, which is good. Phoenix is okay with Cairo but not the other. Need to work on that more. London still hides and Paris stay up high on shelves. Russia is a horny cat that just cannot get enough, very crazy.

Hopefully there will be peace soon.

Mother-In-law

My mother-in-law is in the hospital and she does not speak English. We visit her and there is not much that she can do. So, I purchase a few Italian Films for her to watch when I visit her. It should help so that she is not bored.

Leave it to me to come and the rest of the family comes at the same time. So much for watching the movie. I will need to come during the week instead of Mondays. At least she is enjoying the company.

 

I wish there was more we could do. I bring a few treats and now some movies. I am looking for the Italian Soaps that she has been missing out on. Not easy to find. But I will keep looking. I will be by a few times a week to make things a bit better.

She really wants to come home but she needs the care that is given to here in the hospital. As much as my father-in-law thinks he can take care of all her needs and loves her dearly, it is just not possible.

It is sad when you have aged this much and you must depend on others but I truly believe that is the circle of life. Your parent provide and care you and now it is your turn to do the same. Full circle. 

She is a good, kind and caring woman. She is loved and important to me.

Nikon & Bell - Replacements

I had a Canon camera and it was broken and replaced. But the second Canon was doing some odd things, so that to was replaced.


Meet the new replacement.

Another replacement or upgrade was the house telephone by Bell. I went told my telephone has issues and they gave me a new one. Wow, who would have thought it would be that easy? Not me!

That is something good for a change who knows if good thing will happen going forward. Bad things happen in three's, does good things? Now that is a question!

The Red Queen-My Read List

 British historical fiction author Philippa Gregory crosses the line to the Lancaster side in the next installment of her Cousins' War series, The Red Queen.

The Red Queen tells the story of Margaret Beaufort, a member of the House of Lancaster and, most famously, the grandmother of Henry VIII. At the age of twelve Margaret is married to Edmund Tudor in an effort to create a royal Lancaster heir and help secure the throne. Though Edmund dies shortly into their marriage, he leaves Margaret with a son named Henry, whom she swears to put on the throne as the rightful Lancaster heir. Caught up in a dangerous civil war between the houses of Lancaster and York, Margaret must navigate ever-changing court politics and carefully plot to get her son on the throne. But in a world where the king of England is constantly changing and no line of succession is secure, Margaret must walk a thin line between loyalty and betrayal to get what she desires.

Margaret Beaufort is an interesting contrast to Elizabeth Woodville, the York Queen Gregory discussed in The White Queen. While Elizabeth clings strongly to her mother's mysticism and witch-like superstitions, Margaret is a strict religious woman, clinging to the belief that she is a British version of Joan of Arc and it is her duty, as well as God's will, that the House of Lancaster rule England through her son. Gregory's descriptions of the two women are also at completely opposite ends of the spectrum: Elizabeth is described as a tall, blonde and beautifully seductive woman who becomes involved in politics mostly through her chance meeting with Edward III, and who appears to have no real ambition of her own prior to the meeting. Margaret, however, is described as a shorter, dark-haired woman who is modest and was taught, from the earliest days of her life, that she is descended from a royal line and it is her job to fill the Lancaster cradle with sons, as well as put him on the throne as the rightful heir.

Many of the events that take place in The Red Queen where also documented in The White Queen, though this time there's a different slant to the events and some information is added — and some is removed. While it was interesting to see the same happenings in a different context from the other side, I couldn't help but think that I've read this book before, so the events weren't as new and, well, felt a tiny bit recycled.

An interesting twist though, as in The White Queen, was the inclusion of violent battles. It did bug me when Gregory broke the first-person viewpoint of Margaret to shift to some third-person battles without warning, but it did add an interesting and unexpected facet to the story. I personally enjoyed the change, but some Gregory fans may have trouble with it.

 

Something Gregory fans may also have trouble with is the lack of virtually any romance in the novel, especially fans of The Boleyn Girl and historical romance. Other than a dash of very subtle spark between Margaret and brother-in-law Jasper Tudor, there is absolutely no romance between Margaret and any of her husbands and no romantic subplots between other characters. Seriously, I think this is the first Gregory novel I've read that has no romance in it at all.

 

The pacing in this novel also seemed a little off to me. In fact, I found the first 200-ish pages to be kind of boring, with Margaret doing little else than taking orders from others in charge of her life. Once Margaret takes charge of her own life though and starts to really play political games, things start to get really interesting, eventually culminating in a high-action climax with a highly satisfying, though abrupt, ending.

 

But as always, Gregory's storytelling skills shine through. The descriptions of Medivel England are well-constructed and enjoyable to read, and the characters are throughly developed, especially Margaret. Margaret's transformation throughout the novel from a somewhat spoiled, dramatic child to an intelligent, passionate and ambitious woman is believable and compelling. Fans of biographical fiction will embrace Gregory's portrait of Margaret Beaufort.

 

Though many readers and reviewers will disagree with me, I actually found The White Queen to be more enjoyable than The Red Queen. Something about the Lancaster side just didn't enthrall me as much as the York side. Though not a horrible book, not one of my favorites.

 

I'm interested to see what happens in the next Cousins' War novel which, according to Gregory's website, will be called The Rivers Woman and document the life of Elizabeth Woodville's mother Jaquetta Rivers, instead of the previously announced White Princess.

antipasto platters

 Antipasto platters are a great way to have some family and friends over for great conversations, perhaps a few games of your favourite card games and some good laughs about anything and everything. Add some wine and you have a pretty enjoyable cocktail hour(s).


Create your own delicious platter or go traditional!

Milky

A smaller antipasto platter with only 4–8 ingredients is a great starting point to a full meal. It's also the perfect size for a nice relaxing lunch on the patio or to take along to your next picnic. Include some of these tasty foods:

1. Meats. Mortadella, prosciutto, capicollo, Genoa salami and sopressata are all perfect choices.
2. Cheeses. Always include chunks of Parmigiano Reggiano, but others to try are aged provolone, smoked Gouda, ripe brie, bocconcini, spiced havarti, marinated mozzarella, Asiago and fontina.
3. Jarred or marinated veggies, such as sun-dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, pepperoncini, mushrooms, artichoke hearts and eggplant.
4. Assorted olives. Kalamata, garlic-stuffed green olives or a marinated mix are all a nice addition to your plate. Consider adding capers as well.
5. Fresh whole basil.
6. Breads. Sliced baguettes, crusty Italian bread or rosemary crackers are favourite breads to include.

A larger platter will include not only more of every ingredient, but also more ingredients altogether. Plan on at least 8–12 different foods. This will make a wonderful platter to serve at a large party or as a relaxing summer meal to enjoy on the patio.

 

Include a wide assortment from the simple plate section, but consider adding some of these extras to pump it up a bit:

1. Grilled vegetables, such as asparagus, zucchini, peppers, tomatoes or spring onions.
2. Seafood, including sardines, anchovies or grilled shrimp.
3. Fruits, like fresh melon pieces, figs, grapes and raspberries, or dried fruits such as apricots, dates or cranberries.

Plating your platter

• Assemble your ingredients. With any antipasto platter, the quantity of each food to be added is a personal choice and is dependent on the number of people that are to be served. Use your best judgment to create a balanced and interesting platter.
• One large tray makes a nice visual impact, but one or more smaller plates will also work.
• Consider using small bowls placed on the tray for marinated condiments or vegetables.
• Roll or fold sliced meats for a nice presentation.
• Cut, shave or chunk pieces of cheese.
• Place bread away from moist veggies and pickles.
• Refrigerate your platter, but then bring it back to room temperature for serving.
• Keep sea salt and a pepper grinder handy for seasoning.
• Have extra-virgin olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar ready for drizzling.
• Serve with pinot grigio, Chianti and chilled San Pellegrino water.

Blackberry 9800

I have had my Blackberry Torch 9800 for two year and I have dropped it a dozen time. It is hard to believe that it has not broken. However, the camera sucks when taken photographs. It does not hold a lot and you have to load them asap.


I am upgrading to the Blackberry 9810 soon and it is suppose to be much better. I am still not a IPhone, girl.

Not moving? Are moving?

For the love of all the is Holy this is insane! I find a house that will work. I am told yes yes yes. Than last minute it was no no no! 


Now, it is another 60 days and we have to move. So, this means I have to start all over again!!!! All I want to do is run away! Far far away because I cannot take much more of this horse sh*t! It has to the most insane thing anyone has ever done to me!


I just cannot believe that this is were my life is and that I have been through so much pain and abuse. But I am still being punished! I just do not get it and there truly is only so much I can and will take before I snap, again!

An offer was about to be put it after finding the house that would work out perfectly. Two kitchens and enough space for the both us that we would not cross paths. But "they" backed out at the last minute and said we are not moving. 


Right, of course! No big deal, I mean I only spent months packing the house put and leaving with having to walk around boxes. Yeah Me! 


I have no intentions of unpacking. It can stay like this for as long as forever because I am just done! I have fool written all over my face and cannot believe just how stupid I am. More punishment. I hate this life and I am more then just mad!
