Eunice Kathleen Waymon February 21, 1933 – April 21, 2003, better known by her stage name Nina Simone. She was the Priestess of Soul music. A singer, songwriter and a pianist. Her styles included classical, jazz, blues, folk, R&B, gospel, and pop. Her background in classical music was infused into each of her pieces and had depth as well as quality. She record 40 albums between 1958 to 1974. Her music was a staple in life and she was beloved be many.
After 20 years of performing, she became involved in the civil rights movement and the direction of her life shifted. Simone's music was highly influential in the fight for equal rights in the United States.
Simone's bearing and stage presence earned her the title "High Priestess of Soul".
