Long Walk

I was in the waiting room at the hospital and these two women were waiting for someone. They were talking this person down behind their back while pretending to care. All I could think was how awful it was and how much it made me feel more ill then what I was. Why bother to be there when you do not even care about them? And what makes you so much better, then them? It was not nice and I know - people are not nice and I am foolish to believe that they should be - could be, but they chose not to be.


You can never know what it is to take a long walk in some else's life, so you should not judge another person. Show kindness and be compassionate because you really do not know when your life will be in need for someone else to show you the same.


It is never right to think that you are above another because the truth is you are not. Just because you have a life that you know is perfect does not mean that it is. You may have money to spend, endless trips to take, a bunch of friends and family around you or you have the perfect job. But what is the truth? Are you happy and do you have fulfilment?


Everyone has at least one thing in their life that gives them pain and heartache. There are moments that you have had lost and sadness follow you. You have fears and broken dreams just like anyone else.


So, my point is that we all have to realize that when we look at another person, just do not look - see them, hear them and be compassionate. One day you may need to have someone feel compassion towards you and give you a friendly shoulder to cry on. Or you just may need them to smile at you.


Everyone has to take That Long Walk just to get through each day.
